Frequently Asked Questions

Home / Frequently Asked Questions

How often should an elevator be serviced?

Regulations require elevators to be regularly maintained by an authorized company under a service contract. In practice, maintenance is carried out monthly, and more often for heavily used elevators.

What is the periodic inspection and who carries it out?

Elevators are inspected once a year by accredited Type A inspection bodies authorized by the local administration. After the inspection, a colored information label is attached to the elevator.

What do the green, blue and red labels mean?

A green label means the elevator is compliant. A blue label indicates minor non-conformities that must be corrected before the next inspection. A red label means the elevator is unsafe; it must not be used and must be made safe within 30 days at most.

What are the benefits of a machine-room-less (MRL) elevator?

In MRL elevators the compact gearless machine is installed inside the shaft, so no separate machine room is needed. This saves building space, lowers construction costs and reduces energy consumption.

Can I upgrade my old elevator without replacing it?

Yes. Through modernization, components such as the machine, controller, doors and cabin can be renewed to bring the elevator up to current safety and comfort standards. This is usually more economical than a full replacement.

How long does a new elevator installation take?

It depends on the number of floors, the elevator type and whether the shaft is ready. Installing a standard passenger elevator usually takes a few weeks once the shaft is ready. We provide a clear schedule after the site survey.

What should I do if I get trapped in an elevator?

Stay calm and press the alarm button or use the emergency communication system in the car. Do not force the doors or try to climb out. Our breakdown team will arrive as quickly as possible for a safe release.

What information is needed for a quotation?

The building type, number of floors, shaft dimensions (if available) and the intended use are enough for an initial assessment. After a free site survey, we prepare a detailed technical specification and quotation.
